COVL 2017 ..... here we come! New Look, New Faces

2017 planning is ramping up

This season, the league organization and registration will be managed by longtime members Darian Achurch and Mike Minckler.  The website will be undergoing a major modernization under Mike's directorship and Darian will be handling the initial registration enquiries. Check the "Contacts" page for how to get hold of him if you have questions regarding the 2017 season.

Wow! What an evening!

Well, the RADAR and local spotters were bang on, the sun shone, the air was still and the courts were a buzz of great volleyball spirit. There were a few teams short of players, possibly because they live in a rain pocket, but the Bye schedule allowed most games to played out just fine.

Results are now posted if you want to see how your team did. We had an internet outage last night which prevented late night posting.

Next week is FINALS NIGHT, we'll playing teams in divisions based on overall performance through the season. Trophies and bragging rights will be up for grabs and of course the final MEGA PRIZE DRAW during the social at Whiskey Point Grill. Make sure your team is all ready to go and see you Wednesday 22nd!

Wednesday 15 June : Volleyball is on!

According to local observers and the RADAR weather maps, we should be OK for Volleyball! Cloudy, but unlikely to rain.  If things change while we're playing, we'll adjust then, but for now we have to go ahead given the data we have. See you on the courts!

Scores and Photos online

The results and photos from this Wednesday are up on the site! I'm off to bed now, enjiy!

The Call is in , the Games are ON!!

The weather network and environment Canada assure us that the precipitation is moving over to Vancouver and, while we won't be roasting in the sun, we should stay dry.  Not enough wetness fell to make the fields a problem, so Volleyball is a go tonight, Wednesday June 1st.

See you on the courts!!

Half way there

So at last, I've time to update the front page:

We just finished week 4 of the 2016 season and it was another glorious evening under the sun on Brentwood's amazing fields. With 36 teams competing, we have over 150 people belting our red and white balls over the nets. we're now seeing the level of play starting to ramp up as people have rediscovered their skills and the team members start to gel and play off each other.

As always, our leagues are catering to all levels of player and it's great to see the novices picking up the skills and the level of play improving. It's also been great to actually play with my own team this year, we're having a blast and because of the up and down movement, we get variety every week and it's been great to interact with new opponents.

On the Elite nets, the competition is really heating up. The perennial favourites are finding it tough going this year, perhaps the rebels have finally found the chink in the Death Star's defences. Then again, perhaps the skirmishes have been won, but the outcome of the war is still in the balance!

ANyway, the results from week 4 are up as are the few photos I was able to capture. There were many games that were not recorded on the score sheets, so they've been entered as scoreless draws. The league standings

Spring League 2016 Fully under way!

Well, it's taken a bit of time to get the site up to date, but it's finally here. The 2nd week of COVL played out tonight under brilliant sunshine and was a lively, happy fun evening with tons of great volleyball being played.

More updates later ( it's 1 am right now and I need some sleep ), BUT the results are up in the results section and we'll get the photos from the evening up in the morning sometime. Thanks to all those teams who show up a little earlier to assist in setting up the courts. With 14 courts operating, it takes a while to get the field setup and all help is greatfully accepted.

Map of COVL venues

Below you'll find an embedded google map of our COVL venues.

Game location is indicated by the BLUE marker post and corresponds to Brentwood College School playing fields. Turn off the highway at the light by the Co-Op gas station.

This years socials are at Whiskey Point Grill in the Mill Bay Centre. This is indicated by the Burger and Glass on the map. It's just a hop skip and a jump from the fields we play on!

Once again our socials feature great company, great food and great prizes.
